Instructor Training Course (ITC)

April 21 – 24, 2008
Squaw Creek Resort, North Lake Tahoe, CA

Anyone responsible for driver training should attend the ITC, which will help you establish your own comprehensive driver training program. First offered 15 years ago, this train-the-trainer course is being held in conjunction with the CalACT Spring Conference and will teach participants:

  • The Principles of Adult Learning
  • Defensive Driving Course
  • Behind-the-wheel Training
  • Passenger Assistance Techniques

The course is highly interactive. A manual and all teaching materials are provided.

Cost/Lodging
Free for members of NPU or CalACT. $350 tuition for non-members. Travel expenses and lodging are the responsibility of the member agency. The special rate of $145 for a single or double room at the Squaw Creek Resort is available through CalACT. Call (800) 403-4434 by March 21st to reserve a room. Mention that you are with the CalACT group. For a room from $70/night, call America’s Best Value Inn, Tahoe City at (866) 588-8246.

The Rural Transportation Assistance Program (RTAP) offers financial assistance for rural agencies. For RTAP assistance, contact Meg at CalACT 916-920-8018. NonProfits’ United also provides scholarships in case of financial need.

ITC Training

 

Don Martin – Don oversees our Risk Management program. For over 12 years Don was the Executive Director of Gold County Telecare, a Paratransit service for elderly and disabled people in Grass Valley, CA. He has been in the transportation field for over 30 years as driver, trainer and manager.

Dennis Studebaker – Dennis was the pool’s first Safety/Loss Control Specialist from 1991-1999 during which time he developed and taught the ITC. Prior to that Dennis was the Director of Volunteer Wheels in Santa Rosa, CA.

ITC Training

 

Eileen Wagner – Eileen has over 20 years experience in the transportation industry, including public transit and school bus, as both a driver and a trainer. She has extensive knowledge of safety and training programs, state and federal regulations, and transportation operations. Eileen’s Certifications are in First Aid/CPR, Defensive Driving, TSI and assisting with CDL endorsements.
