Joe comes to NPU with more than 25 years of overall experience in nonprofit accounting and finance. For the last 13 years he was CFO for member agency, T.E.R.I. Inc. and he is a former NPU Board Member.  Born in Chicago Ill, he attended Lane Tech High School, received a BS in Accounting from Southern Illinois University, and earned a CPA certification from the University of Illinois. He has two sons and is engaged to an incredible woman, Peggy Prospal.

Don oversees our entire Risk Management program and is building a resource center for our members. Don meets with members, one-on-one, to evaluate their risk exposures and develop a plan to improve their safety and efficiency. He supervises our team of evaluators and TSI-certified instructors, maintains our library of training materials, produces workshops and training seminars, and monitors industry trends in safety and risk control. Don was the Executive Director of Gold County Telecare, a Paratransit service for elderly and disabled people in Grass Valley, CA, for over 12 years and a VIP board member for eight years.  He has been in the transportation field for over 30 years as driver, trainer and manager.

Anna Marie is the main contact for all members of the VIP and WCG. She manages the needs of our members and handles the underwriting of prospective members. She interfaces with our claims administrators, our reinsurance broker, and the state Department of Industrial Relations Office of Self-Insurance Plans. Before coming to NPU, Anna Marie was the Underwriting Manager for the CSAC Excess Insurance Authority (CSAC EIA) for four years, where she had responsibility for seven risk-sharing coverage programs with premiums in excess of $600 million.  Before the EIA, she served as the Technical Services Director for CalTIP, providing administrative and program management services to their Liability and Physical Damage coverage programs.  She received her undergraduate degree in Psychology from California State University, Sacramento and a Masters’ Degree in Business Administration from the University of Phoenix.

Peter is the main contact for all members of the VIP. He provides quotes, processes new memberships, produces invoices, and oversees the renewal process. He also processes claims and is the intermediary between members and the claim adjusters. He maintains the authorized driver list and the vehicle inventory database, processes certificates of insurance and endorsements, and issues the Safe Driver Awards. Before coming to NPU in 2000, Peter worked in the paratransit industry, most recently as a Customer Service Representative for East Bay Paratransit.

A former founding Board of Directors Member, Bill has been charged with updating NPU’s communication and marketing materials, improving and maintaining NPU’s web site to better represent our organization and serve members, as well as develop programs and strategies to attract new members.  He has over 23 years of management experience in social service transportation and public transit, including 16 years as the Transportation Specialist for Far Northern Regional Center and six years as the General Manager of Tehama County Transit. He also has extensive experience in web site design and development and desktop publishing, and a 20-passion for NPU's mission to provide quality service and affordable insurance to its members. Bill Durant was Executive Director of Paratransit, Inc for 30 years and was a founding member of both NPU and CalACT. In 1994, he was honored by CTAA as Executive Manager of the Year and, in 2007, Paratransit Inc. was awarded CalACT’s first annual Outstanding Paratransit Operation. Bill lives in Sacramento and is an avid motorcycle enthusiast.

A former founding Board of Directors member, June is responsible for developing and administering loss control programs, with focus on driver training, in support of both the VIP and WCG. She conducts one-on-one assessments with our members and develops a plan to help the losses and exposures. June was the Executive Director of Community Transportation Agency, Inc. in Galt, CA for 27 years.  She was also a founding member of the California Association for Coordinated Transportation (CalACT), which was instrumental in the creation of NPU, and was honored as Woman of the Year in 1990 by the California State Legislature. June has dedicated her life to improving the role of nonprofits in our communities including 20 years of leadership on the NPU Board of Directors.

Eileen has over 20 years experience in the transportation industry, including public transit and school bus, as both a driver and a trainer. In the 1990s Dennis served on the NPU staff and developed the pool’s safety and training programs.  Dennis recently returned to NPU to continuing developing the pool’s training program after serving as the volunteer program coordinator for the County of Sonoma. In the 1980s Dennis was the Director of Volunteer Wheels in Sonoma County.  He served on the CalACT board and on the steering committee that founded NPU.  Dennis also wrote Succeeding with Volunteer Transportation (free download).
